Matthew, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your piece about your Minecraft detour. As someone who's spent countless hours in the game, your experience felt very familiar. The way you described the emergent storytelling and the sense of community you found really struck a chord. It's a testament to how Minecraft can be so much more than just a game. Found this post by happenstance. It's a funny word, "happenstance", like something a child would invent with the help of an imaginary friend. I rarely ever use this word and can't remember the last time I did, but I think it describes Minecraft perfectly; At least from my point of view.
I played with Circleight on a Angelblock Society creative server ran by RoloFolo back in 2014-2015 called GoofTroop. She kept mostly to herself and focused on the creative plot world. I was addicted to this game then but due to limited high speed internet availability I never got involved in build teams or video recordings.
She was nice and had a great but odd sense of humor. Loved the color purple and never missed the opportunity to give constructive criticism. Like most servers the owner was distracted with real life things and it eventually shut down.
I learned of her passing some time in 2021 after a hiatus from video games.

I remember your name, twigbang. I don't remember most of the interactions I've had in Minecraft, but I'm sure we crossed ways at least once. What an amazing coincidence that you found my post! I'm glad we could connect over the memory of Circ. I never want the world to forget her. Yes, her sense of humor was strange, but at this point I can't remember exactly how. If you could refresh me on something she said, it would fill a little hole in my heart. Thanks for steering me toward your PMC. That 404 map is a trip for sure. And only two years ago... Yeah, it's fun to think about getting back into it.

Did the window turn out? The math side of MC can be really fun—you kinda have to rough it sometimes (because blocks be blocks). I'd love to see any work you've finished.
you used to build the stained glass circle by hand are solid. With a decent version of World Edit you could have generated the circle and copy pasted your pizza slices, rotating thirty degrees each time, but where’s the satisfaction in that? ;) I love being able to brag that I did some of my craziest stuff by hand (not that anyone should be impressed). Your various devices sound pretty cool too. I got to work with some miracle makers in my time. The stories are endless. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. It’s fun to meet a writer who’s dipped into the cube world. I don’t see a lot of those.
